A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Friday urged cadres to carefully study President Xi Jinping's latest speech and think and act in unison to prepare for the upcoming national congress of the CPC.

Liu Qibao, head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, asked the nation's publicity officials to thoroughly understand the political and theoretical significance of the speech, and its significance in practice.

He said Xi in the speech raised a series of new thoughts, opinions, judgements and measures that can guide the development of the Party and the nation.

Xi, also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, called for unswerving adherence to and improvement of the CPC leadership at a workshop attended by provincial and ministerial officials on Wednesday and Thursday, in preparation for the 19th CPC National Congress.
