The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) completed a joint anti-terrorist drill on Thursday in Russia's Yaroslavl region located northeast of Moscow, Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) said.

Joint anti-terrorist actions were practised during the exercise, with the aim to curb the channels of possible terrorists' penetration to the territory of the SCO member states, as well as to suppress terrorist acts and clean up their consequences at the mass gathering facilities, the FSB said in a statement.

SCO member states' competent bodies were involved in the exercise, with the coordination by the organization's Executive Committee of the Regional Anti-terrorist Structure (RATS), the document said.

The SCO is a Eurasian political, economic and security organization set up in 2001 in Shanghai, China. Its members include China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, India and Pakistan.

The anti-terrorist centers, special services and law enforcement agencies of Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, as well as the Collective Security Treaty Organization's Secretariat and the Anti-terrorist Center of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) also took part in the event, according to the FSB.
