China on Friday called on the United States and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) to refrain from the old path of flaunting power and raising tensions on the Korean Peninsula.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang made the remarks in a press statement in response to the recent spat between the United States and the DPRK over the situation on the peninsula.
The DPRK military said in a statement Thursday that its plan to strike Guam with intermediate missiles would be ready by mid-August.
"If North Korea (DPRK) does anything in terms of even thinking about attack of anybody that we love or we represent or our allies or us... they should be very nervous," U.S. President Donald Trump warned. "Because things will happen to them like they never thought possible."
The current situation on the peninsula is complicated and sensitive, said Geng.
"China hopes that all related parties could watch their words and actions, contribute more to easing the tensions and building mutual trust, and refrain from an old path of flaunting powers and raising tensions," the spokesperson said.
