A total of 16 suspects were arrested and 27 tons of narcotic materials were seized in an operation in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, local police announced Wednesday.
Police received information late March that a drug-making ring, headed by a suspect surnamed Chen, had come to Chifeng City. Police raided their works in late June and found 17 devices used to produce drugs.
With a daily production capacity amounting to one ton of drugs, it is by far the largest drug-making workshop ever found in Inner Mongolia, the police said.
An investigation in early August netted 16 suspects and confiscated over 27 tons of raw materials.
Investigation into the case continues.
