A video of juveniles wearing Victoria's Secret lingerie and walking on an improvised stage at a shopping mall in China's southwestern city of Chengdu caught attention online recently.
The footage was captured earlier this month, showing a group of underage girls wearing multi-colored bikinis and feathered wings of angels, copycatting the way super models walk and pose at Victoria's Secret, the worldwide well-known fashion show. A boy was also seen walking on the stage.
A round of applause and cheers was heard from the crowds, with some of them taking photos.
It's said that these children came from a local child acting and modeling agency, and they were reportedly preparing for a competition later on.
As soon as the video clip surfaced online, netizens were quick to comment and reactions were mixed. Some stood for the child of nature and believed it's inappropriate to see kids with underwear in public.
"It's not supposed to be for kids. And it's ridiculous to see them wear the adult's clothes," said @Yeshenganle on Weibo. "Child star is a kid in the first place and they're supposed to be with naivety."
Some also brought it to the recent case of a man molesting a girl in Nanjing train station and other sexual assaults of children happened around the country, saying that there's a potential danger for kids in public, especially in revealing clothes.
"I didn't realize the frequent existence of pedophiliac in our society until recently," commented @Tina0574. "More protection is needed for our children."
While others found the former too sensitive, saying "it's not that serious as their parents were right there off the stage."
A legal expert, Zong Chunshan from a counseling and psychological service for teenagers in Beijing, considered it's contradictory to the law on protection of minors, according to reports. However, the agency responded with a supervisor surnamed Zeng noting they produced the show with "positive energy" during a phone interview with the local media.
