South Korea has named Noh Young-min, a former three-term Democratic Party lawmaker and confidante of President Moon Jae-in, as the country's new ambassador to China.

Yonhap reported that Noh played a key role in Moon's camp during this year's presidential election, and served as Moon's chief of staff when he ran in the 2012 presidential election.

South Korea has also appointed former diplomat and presidential economic adviser Cho Yoon-je as its ambassador to the United States and foreign policy expert Lee Su-hoon as ambassador to Japan, the Blue House said in a statement on Wednesday.
