World champion shooter Yang Haoran surpassed the world record for the men's 50m rifle 3 positions qualification round by three points at China's National Games on Thursday. [Special coverage]
Yang, who represents Hebei Province at the quadrennially-held event, scored 1,189 points in the qualification round.
The current world record was set by Nazar Louginets of Russia on June 12, 2014 at ISSF World Cup Rifle & Pistol in Munich of Germany.
Yang won the gold medal in men's 10m air rifle at the world championships in 2014.
