Chinese Ambassador to Laos Wang Wentian has paid visits to three northern provinces of Laos to discuss cooperation, according to the Chinese embassy.
Wang visited Luang Prabang, Oudomxay and Luang Namtha provinces in northern Laos from Monday to Wednesday, the Chinese embassy said.
On Monday, Wang met with Vongsavanh Thepphachan, deputy governor of Luang Prabang, and exchanged views on further promoting cooperation between China and Luang Prabang in trade and economy, tourism and personnel training among others.
The two sides also discussed measures to ensure safety of major strategic cooperation projects between China and Laos, including the China-Laos railway project.
On Tuesday, the ambassador visited Oudomxay and met with Governor of the province Phetsakhone Luang-aphay. Both sides shared their views on how to promote construction of the China-Laos railway section in the province.
On Wednesday, Wang traveled to Luang Namtha and met with the Provincial Governor Phetthavone Philavanh. The two sides discussed measures to further promote China-Laos border customs clearance, investment of Mohan-Boten cross-border economic cooperation zone and the China-Laos railway section in the province.
The 414-kim China-Laos railway links Mohan-Boten border gate in northern Laos and the Lao capital of Vientiane with designed speed of 160 km per hour.
