Chinese President Xi Jinping is holding a press conference to introduce the outcomes of the three-day BRICS Summit that concludes in Xiamen, southeastern China on Tuesday.[Special coverage]
Xi said the summit has been fruitful as leaders reached consensus on various issues.
Leaders agreed to strengthen efforts to achieve the 2030 sustainable development goals (SDGs), he said.
The emerging-market bloc of BRICS, which groups Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa together, issued a joint Xiamen Declaration after a leaders' plenary session on Monday, pledging to play active roles in economic growth, international cooperation and global governance.
The 9th BRICS Summit, under the theme of "BRICS: Stronger Partnership for a Brighter Future", was held in Xiamen from September 3 to 5 under China's chairmanship.
Leaders of Egypt, Guinea, Mexico, Tajikistan and Thailand also joined in the Dialogue of Emerging Market and Developing Countries, promoting expanded cooperation among developing countries.
