The Chinese embassy to Myanmar on Friday officially unveiled the interim liaison office in Nay Pyi Taw, becoming the first foreign embassy in Myanmar to have opened such an office in the country's new capital.
Present at the office's unveiling ceremony were Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Hong Liang and Myanmar Minister of State for Foreign Affairs U Kyaw Tin, among others.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hong said the Chinese side attached importance to the opening of the liaison office as to further develop ties with Myanmar.
As both countries are friendly and close neighbors as well as advocators of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, China and Myanmar are closely cooperating to jointly build the Belt and Road, foreseeing broad prospects of development in the future, Hong added.
U Kyaw Tin expressed his belief that the opening of such an office will play a vital role in promoting the two countries' relations, saying that Myanmar welcomes other foreign diplomatic institutions to also open their liaison offices in Nay Pyi Taw.
