Ri Yong-ho, foreign minister of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), left here Tuesday morning for New York to participate in the UN General Assembly leading a five-member delegation.
The delegation will return to Pyongyang on Sept. 28 after attending the UN General Assembly, according to DPRK officials.
While in New York, Ri is scheduled to deliver a speech at the General Debate and meet with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, according to earlier media reports, which are not confirmed by DPRK officials.
Ri and his delegation attended the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Regional Forum in Manila last month.
The DPRK conducted its latest nuclear test on Sept. 3, sparking fresh sanctions by the United Nations Security Council. A few days ago, it launched another medium-range ballistic missile.
