Senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official Liu Yunshan said Tuesday that the sound and stable development of relations between China and Vietnam will greatly benefit both.
"The sound and stable development of bilateral ties will help to solidify the ruling position of the two parties, which is in the interests of the two parties and peoples of the two nations," Liu said during a meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
Liu, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, arrived in Hanoi on Monday for an official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV).
The CPC and the CPV constitute a community of shared destiny with strategic significance, Liu said.
Liu also said that China and Vietnam are two highly complementary economies, having huge potential for practical cooperation.
While calling for an alignment of the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative with Vietnam's Two Corridors and One Economic Circle plan to facilitate production capacity cooperation, Liu suggested the two neighbors properly manage and control their differences so as to create a favorable environment for cooperation.
For his part, Phuc said Vietnam is willing to work with China to implement the consensus reached by General Secretary of the CPV Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong and General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee Xi Jinping.
Phuc agreed that the two countries should synergize development strategies, saying they should deepen cooperation in investment, trade and on major projects, while properly dealing with differences, so as to bring more benefits to the two peoples.
On Monday, Liu met with CPV chief Trong. During the meeting, Liu said that China and Vietnam are both socialist countries led by communist parties, and it is important to strengthen relations between the two parties and countries.
Trong expressed the hope for more inter-party exchanges and cooperation, especially experience-sharing on state governance and party building, while urging the two countries to cement political mutual trust, strengthen their traditional friendship and promote their comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation.
During his meeting on Monday with Tran Quoc Vuong, a member of the Politburo of the CPV Central Committee, secretary of the CPV Central Committee and head of the Committee's Inspection Commission, Liu said it is a priority for the two countries to turn the consensus reached by Xi and Trong into concrete actions.
Vuong said Vietnam is ready to work with China to implement the consensus, strengthen political mutual trust, enhance practical cooperation in various fields and promote the healthy and stable development of bilateral ties.
On Tuesday, Liu also met with Chairperson of the National Assembly of Vietnam Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.
Liu said he hoped the National Assembly of Vietnam would play an active role in cementing the friendship between the two peoples. Friendly people-to-people exchanges are indispensable for developing bilateral ties, he added.
Ngan said that maintaining the traditional bilateral friendship is a firm policy of Vietnam.
