Hosted by Greece for the first time, the exhibition "Ancient Chinese Science and Technology" was inaugurated at the Herakleidon Museum opposite Acropolis Hill in Athens on Thursday.
From September 23 until April 29, 2018, the exhibition features technological achievements from Chinese civilization in the fields of mathematics, physics, chemistry, astronomy, biological, and agricultural science among others.
Visitors will also have a chance to watch demonstrations of inventive ancient Chinese techniques – papermaking, printing processes and weaving.
"This exhibition is presented for the first time in Greece and through this exhibition we hope that Greek people will understand Chinese tradition and technology and have a better image of China," said Yang Jun, senior engineer of the exhibition at the China Science and Technology Museum.
This exhibition is part of a cultural exchange program between the two countries. Later this year, CSTM will host an exhibition focused on the scientific and artistic innovations of ancient Greeks.
"I believe that the holding of ancient science and technology exhibitions in each other's country will inspire more people, especially the young, scientific pursuit and the desire and passion for innovation," Chinese Ambassador to Greece Zou Xiaoli said at the opening ceremony for the exhibition.
