Indonesia is now taking preparation prior to the arrival of two giant pandas from China resulted from bilateral conservancy cooperation under breeding loan scheme, officials said Friday.
The delivery of two giant pandas to Indonesia had undergone several processes since talks in doing so was initiated in 2010 when the two countries celebrated their 60 anniversary of diplomatic ties.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) document related to their delivery to Indonesia was signed on Business to Business basis by representatives of China Wildlife Conservation Association (CWCA) and Taman Safari Indonesia on Aug. 1 last year in Guiyang, China.
"I hope the giant pandas can live happily and healthy here, bringing cheering and happiness for Indonesian people and to further promote friendship of China and Indonesia people," Charge D'Affaires of Chinese Embassy Sun Weide told a press conference in Indonesia's forestry and environment ministry premises here on Friday.
In the same occasion, a senior official at the ministry said that preparations have been set in Indonesia to welcome arrivals of the panda pairing from China.
"We are all very happy to welcome a pair of panda from China, we have took preparation to welcome them. We would like to thank every party which had initiated efforts to facilitate their upcoming arrivals here," Listia Kusumawardani, a senior official at the forestry ministry who represented director of nature conservation at the ministry told a press conference here on Friday.
The male panda designated for Indonesia was namely Cai Tao, while the female one was Hu Chun. The two 7 years old pandas have health certificates issued by China's Research Center for the Giant Panda (RCGP).
They would be transported to Jakarta from Chengdu by Indonesia's state airlines of Garuda Indonesia on Sept. 28.
