South Korean President Moon Jae-in said Wednesday that peace will come to the Korean Peninsula without fail, vowing his unstinted support for projects related to reunification with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

Moon made the remarks at a meeting with about 200 members of the National Unification Advisory Council (NUAC), a presidential advisory panel that offers policy advice on the inter-Korean reunification, according to the presidential Blue House.

The council was established in 1981, having a membership of over 19,000 individuals.

"Though situations are tough now, peace and prosperity will come to the Korean Peninsula without fail. As the night goes on, it draws towards dawn," said Moon.

Moon vowed to provide an unstinted support for multiple reunification projects, pushed by the NUAC, regardless of the inter-Korean relations, saying preparations would speed up the reunification.

"Peace is made, not given," said Moon who asked the NUAC to play a role in preparing for peaceful reunification.

The president said preparations for the peaceful reunification should continue while sternly dealing with the DPRK's nuclear program based on a firm South Korea-U.S. alliance and cooperation with the international community.

The Moon government has adhered to a principle that humanitarian aid to the DPRK would be pursued independent of political situations.

Tensions ran high on the Korean Peninsula amid the resumed war of rhetoric between Pyongyang and Washington.

The Moon government has recently approved projects to offer 8 million U.S. dollars of humanitarian aid to the DPRK through international organizations to assist pregnant women and babies in the DPRK.
