A strong cold front will sweep across China from north to south over the next three days, bringing down temperatures in a vast part of China, the national observatory said Sunday.
Early Sunday morning, the cold front has already caused strong wind and temperature drops from 4 to 6 degrees Celsius in parts of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the National Meteorological Center (NMC) said.
In the first three days of the National Day holiday, the cold air will affect a large part of China, including regions in northern, central and eastern China. Some northern areas will see temperature drops of more than 10 degrees, NMC said.
From Sunday to Monday morning, Chongqing, Shanghai and provinces of Hubei, Henan, Anhui and Jiangsu will be hit by heavy rain, it added.
This year, Chinese people enjoy an eight-day holiday from Sunday to Oct. 8 for the National Day and the Mid-Autumn Day.
