Amid the chaos of the mass shooting in Las Vegas on Sunday, a Chinese tour guide ventured out to save people's lives despite the danger he would put himself in. He went in and out of his hotel twice, and saved the lives of three people.
"Two came out of the room, a man and a woman. The man's chest was caked with blood. He was pressing a bandage to his wound. The woman was not talking, and later I knew she was shot twice in the chest," said Liu Chun, the Chinese tour guide.
Liu said the traffic was totally jammed Sunday night because of the incident, so he followed a fire brigade and arrived at an emergency center in time.
By the time he drove back to his hotel, someone came to him for help again.
"Someone working in the hotel came to me and asked if I could give them some help. There was someone who was injured on the shoulder. I agreed to help them immediately," Liu said.
A Chinese tourist said Liu was not only professional in his work but also very kind-hearted in his life.
"Liu is very responsible and humorous as a tour guide. He knows about the local culture very well. Minutes after the incident took place, he sent us a message, cautioning us to stay in the hotel," said Xu Chao, the tourist.
The mass shooting in the so-called "sin city" of America left 58 people dead and more than 520 wounded, making it the worst mass shooting in modern US history. And, in the immediate aftermath, the tension surrounding the topic of gun control is rising once again.
