The MTR Corporation said on Saturday that the project of Hong Kong Express Rail Link is now 95 percent completed and the target opening date for the link is the third quarter of next year.
The MTR Corporation organized an open day for Hong Kong citizens to visit the trains of the Hong Kong Express Rail Link on Saturday.
Simon Tang, the general manager of Hong Kong Express Rail Link of MTR Corporation, said on the open day that nine trains that will be used for the link have already arrived in Hong Kong. They are now testing the trains' signalling and communication systems with their mainland counterparts.
More than 4,000 people registered to attend the open day. They inspected the trains parked at the Shek Kong Stabling Sidings. After the visit, some citizens said they were satisfied with the trains' design.
"I really appreciate the decorations of the train. After the project is completed next year, Hong Kong will be connected to the mainland via express rail, and it will be very convenient for travelers between Hong Kong and the mainland," said Li Xueyi, one of the visitors.
