Delegates to the 19th Communist Party of China (CPC) National Congress started to arrive in Beijing Sunday morning. [Special Coverage]
The first delegation arriving from outside the capital is from Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
Li Feng'e, one of the delegates and a teacher in Inner Mongolia, said she was excited to attend the congress.
"Education facilities have improved a lot in pastoral areas in recent years," she said. "I hope there will be more supporting policies for education in ethnic minority regions."
The congress, a five-yearly event, will be convened in Beijing, starting Oct. 18. During the year, 2,287 delegates have been selected to attend the event.
Attendees will include high-ranking government officials, Party leaders, and military officers as well as grassroots Party members from "frontline production and manufacturing" such as workers, farmers, technicians, nurses and teachers.
A report to be made by the 18th CPC Central Committee to the 19th CPC National Congress, a work report of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) to the congress, as well as an amendment to the CPC Constitution will be submitted for examination and deliberation.
