A total of 10,000 runners competed in Guang'an "Redrun" Marathon, which was held in Deng Xiaoping's hometown on Sunday.
34-year-old Kenyan runner William Chebon Chebor took the title with a record-setting time of 2:14:00, slicing over 2 minutes from the course record. Mesfin Hailu Lemma of Ethiopia trailed in 2:17:24, while Robert Wambua Mbithi of Kenya finished third in 2:18:11.
"Rain troubled a little," said Chebor, "I tried my best but still could not break my personal best. Except the weather, everything was perfect."
