Abdulwaheed Odusile, head of Nigeria's journalists association, said two television teams and two newspaper teams from the African country are in Beijing to cover the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC). [Special coverage]
"China and Nigeria are getting increasingly close, and China has helped a lot with construction work in our country, so of course we should come to cover such an important event," he said.
Odusile said a lot of stories about China are reported by Western media, but journalists in his country want to write their own stories by experiencing the congress themselves.
"We also hope to have more cooperation with our peers in China," he said.
For many media outlets, one of the highlights was the report delivered by Xi Jinping at the congress' opening Wednesday.
Nikolay Selishchev, with Russia's TASS news agency, said Xi's report was "brilliant."
"I think it clearly defines the key challenges and issues of the country," he said. "To me, the economy, anti-corruption measures, development of aerospace technology and army modernization were the most interesting parts of the report."
He noted that on the day of the report's delivery, TASS published around 15 to 20 stories and a long summary.
"I think that China will continue to develop and there will be only positive shifts in all directions," Selishchev said.
Kirsty Needham, with the Sydney Morning Herald, said she found Xi's vision for how China would interact with the world in the future very interesting.
"I think it is very important for China to continue to open up its market and access for foreign investment," Needham said. "It is good to know about the changes in this area, because a lot of Australian companies deal with China in trade."
"President Xi is a good man," said Malkhaz Gulashvili, president and founder of Georgian Times. "He brought forward the Belt and Road Initiative, a pure economic project with no hidden agenda. Other big nations should learn from China."
He said that China has a very good economic and social model, and that other nations should also focus on poverty alleviation so that one day the world will be poverty-free.
"No other countries have such a big and smart political organization like China's Communist Party," he said.
