Parents in the U.S. state of Wisconsin have found a small bag of crystal meth in their child's Halloween trick-or-treat candy, local reports said Monday.
The parents, living in Keshena, Wisconsin, found the suspicious package and immediately turned it over to local police, who confirmed that the white crystals were meth.
Luckily the child didn't consume the drug.
"The Police Department is asking the community to check their children's Halloween candy thoroughly," local police said on Facebook Monday. "If anything suspicious is located, please contact the Menominee Tribal Police Department."
Josh Lawe, a police detective, said it appears to be an isolated incident, and that no similar reports have been received.
Local police have encouraged parents to throw away candy their children obtained during trick-or-treating as a precautionary measure.
Trick-or-treating is a Halloween holiday tradition, with children dressed up in costumes going from door to door and asking their neighbors for "treats."
