Guo Yezhou, deputy head of the CPC International Department, made the remarks at a forum the department held for senior diplomats and representatives of international organizations to inform them of the highlights of the meeting.
The briefing attracted more than 260 senior diplomats from more than 150 countries, including more than 90 ambassadors and charges d'affaires, as well as more than 140 representatives from international organizations, foreign chambers of commerce and transnational companies.
Guo said "after 2020, we will use 15 years, namely 2021 to 2035, to basically realize socialist modernization. That will be 15 years earlier than our original target of 2050".
"We will use the 15 years saved, namely 2036 to 2050, to build our country into a modern and strong socialist country that is prosperous, democratic, civilized, harmonious and beautiful."
"You are based in China and must know that the CPC is good at two things - to make a long-term strategic plan, and to strive for the target generation after generation until finally realizing it."
"We hope that the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics will provide a reference for other developing countries that are on the path toward modernization. We wish to offer more choices for countries and nations that want to accelerate development and at the same time keep independent," he said.
Maringio Francesco, a member of the Central Committee of the Italian Communist Party, said since the 18th CPC National Congress, which was held in 2012, he had been deeply impressed by the construction of the CPC, including anti-corruption efforts and strict Party governance.
"It was marvelous!" he said.
"And there are two things in the report to the 19th CPC National Congress that impressed me most - one is the change of China's 'principal contradiction', and the other is the Belt and Road Initiative. ... The initiative has become an international move, which I believe is a very good chance for Europe, including Italy."
Paul Chikawa, Zimbabwe's ambassador to China, said he cast special attention on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, which was enshrined in the Party's Constitution at the congress.
"According to my understanding, what President Xi Jinping is telling us is that development is evolutionary. If yesterday was good, today must be better, and then tomorrow must be best."
