Senior political advisors have showed their support for the new leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee with Xi Jinping at the core.
They voiced support for the report delivered by Xi and all resolutions adopted at the 19th CPC National Congress, according to a resolution adopted Wednesday at the 23rd session of the Standing Committee of the 12th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), China's top political advisory body.
Yu Zhengsheng, chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, presided over the closing of the session Wednesday.
The theme of the three-day session is studying and implementing the spirit of the CPC congress. During the session, Wang Huning, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, delivered a report.
The CPPCC, as a distinctively Chinese political institution, is a major channel for socialist consultative democracy, and its committees are specialist consultative bodies.
The CPPCC committees should improve consultation and deliberation to build consensus and promote unity, the resolution read.
They should strengthen democratic oversight, focusing on the implementation of the major principles, policies, decisions, and plans of the Party and the state, according to the document.
The political advisory body should uphold the authority, and centralized and unified leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Xi at the core, to ensure the correct political direction of the cause of the CPPCC, it read.
