The first Wuhan Women's Half Marathon kicks off on Sunday, attracting about 5,000 runners aged from 14 to 69.
The competition, held in Wuhan's Hanyang district, comprises a half marathon and a 5km health run. About 3,000 runners ran the half marathon and 2,000 took part in the health run.
The runners, in pink, started from the government building of Hanyang District and completed their race at Wuhan Qintai Grand Theater, running through scenic spots of Wuhan International Expo Center, Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge, Qingchuan Pavilion and Qingchuan Bridge.
About 80 percent of the runners are aged from 20 to 40 and some are foreign running fans from France and Australia.
Runners who had completed the competition were awarded necklaces instead of traditional medals.
Zhu Yingying, a runner from North China's Liaoning Province, won the half marathon in 1:26:23.
Organizers said after the competition they will draw lots to pick 200 of the runners who finished the marathon to run the 2018 Wuhan Marathon.
