Shanghai General Station of Immigration Inspection launched 26 new e-channels at the departure concourse of both Shanghai airports Friday, with 17 e-channels at Shanghai Pudong International Airport and nine at Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport.
"The technology is amazing, which saved a lot of time for us travelers," a passenger surnamed Yi who holds an electronic Chinese ordinary passport told media as she passed through the self-service clearance channels at Pudong airport.
With the help of the police, Yi scanned her boarding pass, her passport, then pressed her fingerprint for biometric information and successfully passed through in just 10 seconds.
