Chinese Vice Premier Ma Kai will travel to France next Tuesday to attend the One Planet Summit, an event to discuss finance in fighting climate change.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Geng Shuang made the announcement at a daily press briefing Thursday.
At the joint invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and World Bank President Jim Yong Kim, Ma will attend the summit on Dec. 12 in Paris as a special envoy of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Geng said.
During the summit, Ma will deliver a speech Tuesday afternoon at a high-level meeting, Geng said, adding that the vice premier will reiterate China's support for the Paris Agreement and positive attitude toward participating in international cooperation to address climate change.
Ma will also elaborate on China's position on climate funding and showcase China's success in developing green finance and pursuing a transition to a low-carbon economy, said the spokesperson.
