A cold front will sweep across most of northern China, bringing plunging temperatures and strong winds in the next five days, the national observatory forecast Sunday.
From Sunday to Monday, temperatures in northern and northeastern provinces will fall by up to eight degrees Celsius. Parts of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and other regions will see drops of more than 12 degrees Celsius, the National Meteorological Center (NMC) said.
The cold weather will be accompanied by strong wind in these regions, the NMC forecast.
Some regions in Heilongjiang and Jilin can expect snow on Sunday and Monday, with heavy snow forecast for northeastern Heilongjiang.
The national observatory also forecast light rain for parts of the southwestern provinces of Guizhou and Yunnan during the period.
