Local authorities recently published a report on the employment rate of Shanghai's fresh college graduates, Xinhua News Agency reported Monday.
According to the report, which studied the employment of 90,000 fresh graduates from Shanghai universities, the rate of employment hit 97 percent.
Statistics show that more than 70 percent are satisfied with their new jobs. Over 93 percent were born in the 1990s, and 47.4 percent after 1995. The latter group cares more about career development than payment and packages.
According to experts, the youngest generations, who grew up during China's rapid development of technology and social media, will bring new energy to the local human resources market, as well as the country's overall innovation.
Statistics also show that graduates with a bachelor's degree earn an average of 4,793 ($723.74) per month in Shanghai while those with a master's or higher can earn 8,001 yuan. The average monthly salary of all fresh graduates from Shanghai is 5,386 yuan, 8 percent higher than 2016.
