Shanghai's first repair garage specifically for new-energy vehicles (NEVs) was set up in early December by Shanghai Ba-shi Public Transportation Co, Xinmin Evening News reported Monday.
An increasing number of environmental-friendly buses using new energy are running on roads in Shanghai. But they cause great difficulties for traditional mechanics because they do not use gearboxes and their voltage is different from traditional vehicles.
Twelve mechanics are presently undertaking the repair work at the new garage. Among them, Sun Hua is in charge. He has taken part in training classes and paid visits to vehicle and battery companies in other parts of China to learn about repairing NEVs.
Sun and his mechanics hold meetings every Tuesday to discuss and share their knowledge and try to solve problems they have encountered in their daily work. He also hopes to sort out different solutions to benefit other mechanics who will join their team in the future.
