China's discipline watchdog vows to step up efforts to tackle overindulgence and extravagance by government officials and Party members during the upcoming New Year and Spring Festival holiday celebrations.
Discipline inspection organs at all levels are required to strengthen supervision on cases involving violations of discipline, according to a notice released by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) on Tuesday.
The notice emphasized that during the festival period serious investigations will be undertaken and punishment handed out toward any corruption-related behavior, such as those taking place in restaurants, hotels and training centers operated by government departments and State-owned companies.
Another priority is to punish those who use government-owned cars or office space for personal use, said the notice.
It also requires inspection organs to be proactive in conducting supervision work using various methods. New media and technology will be used to set up special channel for the public to report any corrupt behavior.
The CCDI also warned officials against using festival celebrations as a chance to ask their superiors for promotions, the Xinhua News Agency reported.
The public is encouraged to inform authorities of officials who violate the rules, the CCDI said.
A tip-off hotline, tip-off website and email address are also listed in the notice.
