Chinese national women's soccer team defeated U.S. National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) finalist, University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) women's team, 4-0 in a friendly on Friday.

China scored its first goal in the 32nd minute and continued to dominate the match with three goals at the 63rd minute, 90th minute and in the extra time of the second half.

The Chinese team will play their last warm-up game in Los Angeles against the Pepperdine University women's team on Saturday before concluding their three-week winter training in the United States.

"This is the first training camp under the guidance of our new head coach, aiming to improve our team physically and tactically," said Wu Haiyan, the captain of Chinese team.

"We are speeding up to prepare for the Algarve Cup this month and Women's Asian Cup in April," she added.

"We are improving all the time," said Sigurdur Ragnar Eyjolfsson from Iceland, who replaced Frenchman Bruno Bini as the head coach of the Chinese national women's team in November.

"Chinese team is very good and very organized," said Amanda Cromwell, the head coach of the UCLA women's soccer team, noting that she was impressed by the skill level of some Chinese players.

"I'm also very happy with my team," said Cromwell. "But we are not lucky enough to get a goal."

Chinese Consul General in Los Angeles Zhang Ping came to watch the game, cheering for the performance of players of the two teams.

"Sports exchanges is an important part of People-to-People Exchange between China and the United States," said Zhang.

"The two countries will have more and more sports exchanges as Los Angeles is going to be the host of the 2028 Summer Olympic Games," he added.
