Shandong's star forward Ding Yanyuhang grabbed his second MVP trophy for China's top basketball league after winning the award last year, the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) announced on Wednesday.
Courtney Fortson of Guangsha was named foreign MVP.
Chosen by 100 representatives from media outlets nationwide, players were awarded 5 points for each first-place vote, 3 points for each second-place vote and one point for each third-place vote.
The CBA company collected a total of 90 effective votes. The result depicts a fierce race between three domestic players Ding Yanyuhang, Hu Jinqiu and Yi Jianlian. Ding comes first with 266 points, outperfoming Hu's 248 points and Yi's 241 points to win a back-to-back CBA MVP.
Ding had another memorable season with an average of 25.7 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game, ensuring a 4th place for Shandong.
As for the foreign MVP, former NBA player Courtney Fortson (328 points) beat out the other two contenders Jiangsu's Marshon Brooks (202 points) and Xinjiang's Darius Adams (161 points) by a large margin.
Fortson averaged 31.1 points, 7.8 rebounds, 12.0 assists and 2.7 steals in the regular season. With his dominating performance, Guangsha headed into the playoffs as the champion of the regular season.
