The 12th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) on Wednesday convened a meeting of the chairman and vice chairpersons to discuss preparation for the first annual session of the 13th CPPCC National Committee.
The meeting was chaired by Yu Zhengsheng, chairman of the CPPCC National Committee. At the meeting, participants listened to reports on preparation for the upcoming annual session and other issues.
The meeting deliberated and adopted the draft name list of the presidium, executive chairman, hosts of the presidium meeting, general secretary and vice general secretaries of the 13th CPPCC National Committee's first session, which is set to open on March 3.
It also adopted the agenda for the session's preparatory meeting, as well as the draft of the organizational setup and tasks of the session's secretariat.
Yu said that during the past five years, the CPPCC had always upheld the Communist Party of China leadership, worked under the themes of unity and democracy, and demonstrated the strong and distinctive features of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
He called on his fellow members to carry on their good work for the remaining work of the 12th CPPCC National Committee, and bring a successful conclusion to their jobs.
Recommended by attendees of the meeting, Yu will report the overall work of the 12th CPPCC National Committee at the first annual session of the 13th CPPCC National Committee.
Wan Gang, vice chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, was also recommended to make a report on the proposed management of the top advisory body over the last five years.
The meeting also decided that Wang Guoqing will be the media spokesman of the first session of the 13th CPPCC National Committee.
