China to send 26 athletes to PyeongChang Winter Paralympics

It's been a few days since the curtain fell in PyeongChang, signaling the end of the Olympic Winter Games, but the South Korean county will remain a hive of activity as it prepares to host the Winter Paralympics. Those Games will welcome 670 of the world's finest Paralympic athletes. Among the hundreds heading there will be 26 Chinese competitors.

The PyeongChang Winter Paralympics will begin on March 9 and conclude on march 18. Competitions in the Paralympics will be held in six sports, with 80 medal events in total.

Team China will compete in five sports, including wheelchair curling, alpine and cross-country skiing. Chinese athletes will make their Paralympics debut in snowboarding and biathlon in PyeongChang.

China has yet to win a medal at the Paralympic Winter Games, but at the 2014 Winter Paralympics in Sochi, China's wheelchair curling team finished fourth. China's men's wheelchair curling team won the silver medal at the 2015 World Wheelchair Curling Championships. They took the bronze medals at both 2012 and 2013 world championships.
