China will set up a state administration of forestry and grassland, according to a plan submitted to the national legislature on Tuesday.[Special coverage]
The administration is mainly responsible for overseeing and managing the development and protection of forest, grassland, wetland, desert and terraneous wild life, as well as organizing ecological protection and restoration, afforestation and management of national parks.
The State Forestry Administration will be dismantled, according to the plan on institutional restructuring of the State Council submitted to the first session of the 13th National People's Congress for deliberation.
