After claiming an 85-63 home victory, defending champions Beijing swept Shanxi 3-0 in the best-of-five Women's Chinese Basketball Association (WCBA) league finals on Wednesday.
Both sides were anxious and a bit nervous at the begining of the game. Shi Xiufeng's three-pointers brought Beijing back into the match and led 24-16 in the first quarter. Beijing's Sylvia Fowles helped Beijing storm to a 10-0 run in the second quarter. Shanxi did not slice its deficit inside double digits in the second half.
At the final whistle at the Beijing Shougang Basketball Center, Shao Ting and Sylvia Fowels ran across the court to celebrate their third consecutive Chinese women's basketball league victory.
"It was very difficult to win this title. Special thanks also go to Xu Limin, who layed the foundation of the team in the last 12 years," Zhang Yun, the new coach of Beijing for this season, said after the match.
