According to a regulation on enhancing and safeguarding the centralized, unified leadership of the CPC Central Committee, members of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee should submit reports on their work to the CPC Central Committee and Xi once every year.
After reading through their work reports, Xi asked the members to stay true to the Party's original aspiration and keep the mission firmly in mind while thinking in big-picture terms and exercising power for the people, said a statement released Wednesday.
They were told to be bold in pioneering and pushing ahead work and to dare to assume responsibilities.
Xi stressed the importance of honesty and self-discipline, urging them to devote themselves wholeheartedly to public duty, said the statement.
The members were ordered to play a leading and exemplary role in their work, and unite and lead officials at various levels and the people to realize the two centenary goals.
The two goals are to build China into a moderately prosperous society in all respects by the time the CPC celebrates its centennial anniversary, and to become a great modern socialist country by the middle of the 21st century, when the People's Republic of China celebrates its centennial anniversary.
According to their reports, members of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee have staunchly safeguarded the authority and the centralized, unified leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Xi at the core.
They have firmly followed the Party's political line, strictly observed its political discipline and rules, and closely aligned themselves with the Central Committee with Xi at the core in terms of political stance, direction, principle, and path, said the reports.
Senior CPC officials have taken the lead in studying, promoting and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the CPC.
The members have reported their implementation of decisions and plans made by the CPC Central Committee to the Central Committee and Xi in a timely manner and consciously asked for instructions about major issues from the authority, in addition to being loyal to the Party and "politically aware and honest," according to the reports.
They have taken the lead in implementing democratic centralism, promoting the implementation of decisions and plans made by the CPC Central Committee, conducting investigations and research on important issues, improving their work style and practising self-discipline, said the reports.
Apart from overall requirements for members of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Xi also made individual comments while reading through their work reports.
