Sleep disorders are affecting younger people more

The age of those suffering from sleep disorders is getting younger. Over 60 percent of post-90s suffer from lack of sleep, according to the Chinese Medical Doctor Association sleep medicine Specialized Committee.

In Guo's opinion, the reason why the middle-aged and elderly cannot sleep well is due to aging problems, while for young people, the reasons include not going to sleep at the same time each night, sleeping late, and irregular sleep habits.

How to determine sleep quality

Sleep quality is divided into two types: with dreams and without dreams. Furthermore, if a person sleeps without dreams there are deep and light sleep stages of sleep .

There are two standards referring to sleep quality: first, whether there is enough time for deep sleep; second, whether the percentage of dreaming during sleep is appropriate.

"The sleep quality of young people is better because the ratio of their deep sleep time is higher and time of sleeping while dreaming is more, but elderly people sleep more lightly." Guo analyzed.

For most people, there are three simple standards to determine sleep quality: first, people should falling asleep at about 10 pm; second, sleep time should last 7 to 8 hours for an adult; third, a person should feel refreshed and energetic after waking up.
