Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha in Hanoi on Friday, on the sidelines of the sixth summit of the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) Economic Cooperation.
Wang, during the meeting, hailed Thailand for its social stability and economic development, noting that Thailand has been playing a crucial role in global and regional affairs.
Wang said the new Chinese government will continue to put Thailand as a priority in its neighborhood diplomacy and inherit excellent tradition of "Jeen Thai Phee Nong Gan," adding that China is willing to maintain high-level exchange with Thailand, boost the construction of the China-Thailand high-speed railway, enhance the cooperation in the tourism sector and explore the possibility of trilateral cooperation in the development of the Thai Eastern Economic Corridor.
Prayut said the Thailand-China cooperation has seen significant achievements recently particular in trade and tourism sectors.
He said Thailand, which will hold rotating chair of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) next year, is looking forward to China's support to jointly boost the ASEAN-China cooperation.
