Swallows herald the coming of spring and are widely recognized as a symbol of happiness. They once inspired French glass designer Rene Lalique (1860-1945) to create decorative pieces that feature these carefree creatures of the sky.

Lalique, a luxury brand that the designer founded 130 years ago, has recently launched a new collection, including vases and wall ornaments, which are ornamented or fashioned with swallows, as a way to commeorate Rene Lalique.

Some pieces from this Hirondelles (swallows in French) collection are on show at this year's Art Beijing, ending Wednesday at the National Agricultural Center.

Also on display at Lalique's booth are works in collaboration with artists and architects, including a series designed by Briton Damien Hirst featuring his signature elements, such as skulls and pill cabinets.
