Zambian president has called on people tasked with the responsibility of procuring services and contracts from China to get the best because the Asian nation has the capacity to offer whatever is demanded, the Times of Zambia Daily reported on Monday.
Lungu, who is in China for a state visit, told Zambian reporters that China was an interesting country because of its current state where a range of products and services of both high standard and low value could be found.
His government, he said, was not going to allow procurement of services and contracts that were not giving the country value.
"By value contracts, I mean give us contracts, which will provide services to the people of Zambia, which services are sustainable," he was quoted as saying by the paper.
"It is up to those tasked with the responsibility of procuring services and contracts to ensure that they get the best out of China," he added.
The Zambian leader further said contracts could only be sustainable if their pricing was good, competitive and includes backup services and training programs for Zambians who will be responsible for those services once they are brought to the country.
The Zambian leader was in the Chinese city of Sanya where he attended the the 2015 Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) conference.
He said he got valuable experience in Sanya where he found Chinese people with good hospitality and was impressed with the experience of the tourism industry in the city.
