China's third-largest carmaker FAW has named a new chair following a similar move by Dongfeng, the number two car company.
The ex-chair of Dongfeng Motor Corp, Xu Ping, has taken over the reins of FAW, according to a statement by the FAW Group on Thursday.
Xu was formally the Communist Party of China secretary of Dongfeng. He will now be Party chief and chair of FAW.
The replacement came after former FAW chair Xu Jianyi was placed under investigation for a serious violation of discipline in March.
On Wednesday, Dongfeng announced it would replace Xu Ping with Zhu Yanfeng, former FAW chair and deputy Party secretary of Jilin Province in northeast China.
The leadership shuffle is expected to help the two state-owned companies, which have been hit by corruption scandals and slowing sales, recovers.
With sales of over 3 million vehicles last year, FAW is known for its joint venture with Germany's Volkswagen but is struggling with the development of its own brands.
