The year-on-year growth rate of Macao' s Composite Consumer Price Index (CPI) in April slowed to 4.51 from 5.1 percent the month before, touching the lowest since December 2010, the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) reported Thursday.
Rising house rental prices and fuels as well as higher charges for eating out remained the major drivers of the inflation. The annual inflation rate of housing and fuel, health, food and non- alcoholic beverages rose 9.84 percent, 5.17 percent and 4.73 percent respectively, while the indices of leisure and culture, tobacco and alcohol saw a decrease of 1.43 percent and 1.40 percent in comparison with last year, according to the figures released by DSEC.
For the 12 months ended in April 2015, the average composite CPI climbed by 5.62 percent, from the previous period. The figure for the first four months of this year increased by 4.91 percent year-on-year.
