Vietnam established a trade promotion office in southwest China's business hub of Chongqing on Thursday to boost trade and investment between the two countries.
The Chongqing office is Vietnam's first trade promotion agency in China.
The office will establish an exhibition center for Vietnamese products in Chongqing and help Chongqing enterprises invest in Vietnam.
Chongqing is a major automobile, electronics and equipment manufacturing base in China.
Chongqing's trade with Vietnam reached 15.4 billion (2.5 billion U.S. dollars) yuan in 2014, up 216 percent year on year.
Although China's imports and exports grew by only 2.3 percent in 2014, its trade volume with Vietnam rose by 27.7 percent to 83.7 billion U.S. dollars last year, according to customs statistics.
