Chinese apples were exported to the U.S. for the first time Tuesday.
More than 20 tons of apples were delivered to the biggest fruit consumption market in North America, after passing a strict inspection and quarantine.
The U.S. has great demand for fruit, and needs to import more than 200,000 tons every year. Chinese fruit previously had been excluded from U.S. markets. But after China and the U.S. recently signed a quarantine plan, Chinese apples were allowed in the U.S. market late last month.
