China Shenhua Energy Company Limited (CSEC), the nation's top coal miner, on Sunday night announced that its senior vice president Hao Gui was under judicial investigation, without specifying the reasons of the investigation.
CSEC, a listed company on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, said in a statement that it had received the notice of the investigation from its parent company Shenhua Group and Hao was unable to perform his duties.
The board of directors will make its next moves contingent upon the investigation, noted the statement.
Hao also acted as the deputy general manager of the Beijing-based Shenhua Group, a major state-owned enterprise. The share price of CSEC edged up 0.04 percent to 23.09 yuan (3.8 U.S. dollars) apiece on Friday ahead of the statement.
