Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli said here Friday that his country will maintain a reasonable economic growth rate, while delivering a speech at the 19th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).
China's economy has generally remained stable and made fresh progress so far this year, the Chinese official said, adding that "We are fully confident and capable of maintaining a reasonable growth rate of the economy and realizing the goals of economic and social development of this year."
He said that China will actively adapt to the new state of economic growth by maintaining stability while seeking progress, deepening reform, promoting innovation-driven growth, accelerating economic restructuring, protecting the environment and sticking to the route of green, low-carbon-emission and recycling growth.
Zhang said China will continue to pursue a proactive fiscal policy and a stable monetary policy so as to maintain a middle- to high-speed growth and improve the quality of growth to middle or upper levels.
"China will continue to open wider to the outside world, advance international cooperation on manufacturing capacity and bring about even greater market and more, better investment opportunities to other countries in the world," Zhang said.
China's economy grew seven percent in the first quarter of this year.
