A jewelry industrial chamber has been set up in Daluotang village, a major area of production and trade center in Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong province.
The village, in southern Panyu district, is home to more than 2,000 companies, with more than 50,000 professionals, making it one of the major processing and trade centers of jewelry in the province.
The newly-launched chamber represents 450 local companies.
Sources said the village produces about 30 percent of the world's jewelry while exports to neighboring Hong Kong make up more than 70 percent of the total in the special administrative region.
A jewelry culture museum will be established in the village to highlight the development of an industrial chain of production, trade, design and tourism.
Sources said about 3 billion yuan would be invested to upgrade the industry over the next three to five years.
