Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China Ltd took delivery on Wednesday of the CFM LEAP-1C engine, which will be installed in the first Chinese-made large passenger jet.
The engine was built by CFM International, a joint venture between GE Aviation, a division of General Electric of the United States, and Snecma, a division of Safran of France.
It will be installed in the C919 passenger aircraft. "Delivery of this engine paves the way for the final assembly and rollout of the C919 aircraft later this year," Wu Guanghui, vice-president of COMAC, said.
The maiden test flight of the C919 is scheduled for 2016. So far, 450 orders from 18 domestic and foreign clients have been placed for the jetliner.
